Background
Torbjörn Lundberg was born in Sandviken.
He took his first trombone lessons in the community music
school in Sandviken. Being 11-12 years, he dreamt
about playing the bass trombone. A dream that became true.
In high school Torbjörn moved to Stockholm, and Södra Latin's
music education. During that period, he switch from tenor,
to bass trombone. He had found the "right instrument" for him

Directly after high school Torbjörn was admitted to the University
of Gothenburg's school of performing arts, to study
bass trombone. The teacher there was Ingemar Roos.
During the years of studying in Gothenburg, Torbjörn had the
privilege to work in many Swedish and Norwegian
orchestras.
In January 1989, Torbjörn began as a substitute in Oslo Philharmonic
Orchestra, meant for a year. But already in July he
was back in Gothenburg again. He had won the audition for the job
as bass trombonist in the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra
In 1992 Torbjörn began in Gävle Symphony Orchestra.

Symphony Orchestra musician
Torbjörn is bass trombonist in Gävle
Symphony Orchestra since the season 92/93.
Gävle Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1912, but had to wait
until 1998 to get "their own" Concert hall.
Chamber musician
Besides his job in the orchestra, Torbjörn plays in many different
settings. It can be a solo-concert, with piano accompaniment, to
big ensembles. It is very important to play music in different
forms, besides to the music played in a symphony orchestra.
Gävle Symphony Orchestra's trombone- and tuba section have
been soloists in Arcady Dubensky's "Concerto grosso"
for three trombones and tuba.
We have also played several concerts by our own, including a few radio broadcasted.
Repertoire
The repertoire for trombones in different ensembles is not that big as
for many other instruments. It's not always that easy to find
good music to play. Especially for bass trombone.
Due to that, Torbjörn has started to arrange music mainly for trombones but also for other instruments.
Example of arrangements:
Ack Värmeland Du Sköna (Trad.)
Trombone trio
(even available for trumpet, horn and trombone)
|
Så
Skimrande Var Aldrig Havet
(E.Taube)
Trombone and Piano
|
I don't
know hove to love him
(from Jesus Christ Superstar)
(Trombone quartet)
|
You can take a look at the first page of "Ack Värmeland
Du Sköna" (the link above). If you like it, you can contact Torbjörn
to get the whole arrangement.
It's of course possible to get arrangements written on demand.
Teacher
Torbjörn also acts as a teacher.
The last two years at the university in Gothenburg, Torbjörn took lessons to get an examination certificate in trombone- and
ensemble teaching.
Torbjörn teaches private lessons and gives recitals.
If you are interested in Torbjörn's participation in any way, or
